What to do

This grant is now closed.

1. Check if you and your business are eligible

Your business must:

  • Be a for-profit business
  • Have less than $2.5 million in gross annual receipts
  • Have 5 employees or fewer
  • Have closed or lost at least 25% in revenue since January 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic

Your family income must be in the moderate range of adjusted median income (AMI). Check your family income for the Resiliency Fund.

2. Start your application

We will ask you about your identity, business details, family income, and the impact of coronavirus on your business.

3. After you apply

We will email you a copy of your application.

Every week, we will email you your application status. We may contact you to provide additional information.

4. After the lottery

We will run the lottery on June 19, 2020.

After the lottery, we will contact applicants in lottery rank order. 

We will ask you to provide financial documents to confirm your application information. 

This may include:

  • Your most recent personal tax returns for your family income
  • Your business lease
  • Your bank statements, tax documents, or a report from your accounting software or point of sale system for your 25% decline in business revenue

We will also email all applicants who did not receive a grant.

About the lottery

About the lottery

All eligible applications will be included in the lottery pool. 

The City has $1 million available for all business types. Each Supervisorial District and Invest In Neighborhoods Opportunity Neighborhood will have five spaces reserved in the lottery. Opportunity Neighborhoods include: Bayview, Central Market/Tenderloin, Chinatown, Lower Fillmore, and the Mission. 

At least 50% of grants will be awarded to businesses that have operated for 5 years or more.

The remaining lottery spaces will be available Citywide.

After the lottery for all businesses, a second lottery will be conducted for businesses opening in phase 2c and phase 3. $500,000 is available for these businesses.

The lotteries will be recorded.

If you applied for the Resiliency Fund before March 29, 2020, you will automatically be entered into the next lottery round.

About the San Francisco COVID-19 Resiliency Fund

The City has established a COVID-19 Resiliency Fund to offer emergency grants of up to $10,000 for businesses with 5 or fewer employees.
