What to do
This process applies to appeals and requests for hearings from most City employees. If the employee works for the Municipal Transportation Agency (MTA) and is classified as service critical, you need to follow a different process: File an action request for an MTA service-critical staff hearing.
1. Decide what you want the Commission to do
For example, you may want to cancel the hearing and close the file if the:
- Matter can't be appealed
- Appeal isn't timely
- Problem has already been resolved internally and there's no need for a hearing
You may want to postpone and reschedule the hearing if:
- There's a scheduling problem or the date isn't reasonable
2. Fill out the form (CSC-13)
3. Gather any documents that support your request (optional)
If you want to close the case, provide documents that will help us understand why.
4. Bring the appeal and related documents to our office
