About Us

We work on projects that support healthy eating, active living, and access to healthier choices for people with lower incomes. We also help change policies, systems, and environments (PSE) so it's easier for everyone to live a long, happy life.

Our Projects & Partnerships

Children's Council Healthy Apple

Work with Children's Council to help early childcare providers:

  • Offer healthy food and drinks
  • Keep kids active with fun play
  • Limit screen time during the day

The free program includes a checklist, goal-setting, trainings, and coaching. It’s a fun, easy way to help little ones grow strong and healthy!

Community Gardens

  • Support community gardens at Rec and Park sites across San Francisco by giving people tools, tips, and fun activities to help them grow their own food
  • Learn about the community's needs and share lessons, recipes, and ideas for how to cook garden foods in healthy ways
  • Help families, kids, and neighbors to learn, grow, and eat well together

Countywide Health Campaign

  • Lead fun and healthy activities at parks, schools, child care centers, and senior sites across San Francisco to celebrate National Nutrition Month
  • Include tasty food demos, flavored water stations, exercise games, and simple lessons about eating well
  • Our goal is to make it easier for everyone—kids, families, and older adults—to make healthy choices every day

Free Grocery Stores

Work with free grocery stores to offer food demos, flavored water, recipe cards, and cookbooks

Let's Walk

A free walking program that helps people with lower incomes get active and feel their best. We use an easy walking app and work with the community to make sure everyone feels welcome.

In partnership with:

  • San Francisco Giants
  • California Department of Public Health
  • Local nonprofit organizations, including SF Civic Tech

San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD)

  • Teach Pick a Better Snack lessons
  • Help kids learn more about healthy eating, explore unfamiliar foods, and move more.
  • Provide taste tests, food demos, flavored water
  • Survey kids to measure changes in their eating and activity

SPARK Wellness Policy

Snacks, Play, and Recreation for Kids (SPARK) policy helps kids eat healthier and play more at summer camps and after-school programs in San Francisco Rec and Park sites. We create and roll out fun activities in four areas:

  • Healthy Snacks – Kids try tasty fruits and veggies, make snack art, and learn about foods that fuel their bodies
  • Joyful Play – Kids keep moving with games, nature walks, and garden time
  • Water First – Water is the #1 drink! We make it fun with fruit, herbs, and spices
  • Healthy Parties and Prizes – Parties include games, art, flavored water, and rewards that don’t involve food
