A.  LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Shelter Monitoring Committee acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the Indigenous stewards of this land, and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost, nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the Ancestors, Elders, and Relatives of the Ramaytush Ohlone community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples.

A.  MEALS AND NUTRITION                 Discussion

Kathleen DaSilva will introduce the new Registered Dietician, Kimbery Jower. There are changes and improvements coming, e.g., the Meals on Wheels agreement appears to call for .

B.  VIDEO RECORDING AT SHELTERS     Discussion /Action

Staff will share any developments.  Members may wish to pick up on ideas shared at last month’s meeting.  Members will consider whether to update the inspection forms to inquire into whether the video surveillance/recording system has been checked and is working.

C.  MEMBERSHIP AND MEMBER TRAINING    Discussion

Members will report on efforts to recruit someone to fill for Seat 1.  Thanks to all for getting to the meeting last month. Staff will submit a Reasonable Accommodation Request for anyone who still needs this. New Members should make time this month to finish their onboarding/training.

A.  POLICY SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT          Discussion

The subcommittee discussed training, video systems, grievances vs. SMC complaints, a proposed SMC postcard, Reasonable Accommodations, and shelter nutrition were discussed. Some ideas were approved for consideration by the full Committee.

Proposed Actions: 
1. Shall SMC ask shelters to give SMC flyers to clients at onboarding? 
2. Shall a Training Subcommittee be formed to consider ways the SMC could better monitor training, and, in coordination with HSH, offer appropriate training?
