There are 5 different types, or "classifications" of mobile food facilities.
Mobile food facility 1 (MFF1)
- Sells prepackaged and not potentially hazardous foods
- Example: prepackaged pastries, chips, candies, canned sodas, donuts
Mobile food facility 2 (MFF2)
- Sells prepackaged and potentially hazardous foods
- Example: prepackaged sandwiches, pasta, or cold noodles
Mobile food facility 3 (MFF3)
- Sells non-prepackaged and not potentially hazardous foods
- Example: non-prepackaged churros, salted bagels, cotton candy, or ice shavings
Mobile food facility 4 (MFF4)
- Sells non-prepackaged, potentially hazardous foods, with limited food preparation
- Example: hot dogs, tamales, or coffee
Mobile food facility 5 (MFF5)
- Sells non-prepackaged, potentially hazardous foods, with full food prepping and cooking
- Example: tacos, burritos, falafel, crepes, and curry
