Highlights for operational period 29:

• The Tenderloin Emergency Initiative transitioned to Phase III, Sustained Operations, under the leadership of the City Planning Department on 7/1

The Equity and Community Engagement team held a listening session with the Downtown Investments in Arts and Culture group 6/27

Highlights for operational period 28:

• Adjusted operations for multiple planned and spontaneous events, including the Golden State Warriors celebration on June 20 and SF Pride events and parade on June 26.
• Tenderloin Center engaged guests and others in the area about increased enforcement of public drug use to provide information on place-based and outpatient treatment options
• Shelter availability limited citywide, resulting in fewer placements than in other operational periods

Highlights for operational period 27:

• The Tenderloin Center (TLC) will sustain operations through December 31, 2022
• The TLC expanded hours for the living room for guests exploring sobriety from 9 am to 5 pm
• Urban Alchemy activated the north side of McAllister between Jones and Leavenworth and also Jones between McAllister and Golden Gate for public safety, engagement, and de-escalation; community stakeholders provided positive feedback on Urban Alchemy’s extended deployment hours in the Theater District

• Continued outreach to prepare for vendor-free area of UN Plaza
• Increased enforcement and engagement in priority places like the Theater District, Larkin between Grove and McAllister, Golden Gate between Jones and Larkin, and the Market street corridor
• The Coronado Hotel, a supportive housing site, had 16 placements through the Tenderloin Center into 18 rooms that were previously vacant

• First ever tour of the TLC by local print and TV media
• Continuing to get responses on the Tenderloin public polling survey, through both paper and online submissions
• Ongoing enforcement and engagement continues in priority locations, including UN Plaza

• Continued transition from crisis to sustained operations
• Shelter availability was limited with very few non-congregate options
• The Tenderloin public survey, available in Chinese, English, Filipino, Khmer, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese, has so far received 850 responses; Arabic translations of the survey coming in the next operational period

Highlights for operational period 23:

• Increasing outreach in UN Plaza
• Survey kicked off in Arabic, Chinese, English, Filipino, Khmer, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese to learn more about the feelings, concerns, and goals of people who live in, work in, and frequent the Tenderloin
• 36 guests visited the Tenderloin Center's soft-launched Sober Living Room over 3 days

• Continued work to address harmful behaviors in UN Plaza
• Listening session held with resident and property managers of the 300 block of Ellis
• Continuing steps to transition to sustained operations

Highlights for operational period 21:

• Increased efforts to make the UN Plaza accessible and safe for the community
• New flyers distributed in Chinese, English, Filipino, and Spanish that communicate how to make streets healthy and safe
• As the majority of the Tenderloin recently moved from Supervisorial District 6 to District 5, coordination is beginning with the new legislative team

Highlights for operational period 20:

• The Tenderloin Center continued to transition to sustained operations, with 180 new hires and contracted personnel receiving training
• Continued efforts to mitigate problem behaviors in UN Plaza, including addressing illegal vending and offering Tenderloin Center resources and connections to individuals in the Plaza. 
• Data for Reducing Homelessness and street sleeping in the Tenderloin revised to account for housing assessments done at the Tenderloin Center

Highlights for operational period 19:

• The Tenderloin Center started implementing specialized tools and methodologies for tracking improvements and for long-term space planning
• “Urban Oasis, a Public Space for Peaceful People” at Hyde and Turk now open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. for social activities, washrooms, and daytime storage for guests
• Improvements in the UN Plaza continued for safe passage

Highlights for operational period 18:

• Continued  transitioning of Tenderloin Center (TLC) from emergency to long-term, sustainable operations and staffing
• Improvements made in the area around the TLC to increase access and safe passage, including increased tree pruning, adding more Urban Alchemy practitioners, and getting approval for more lighting
• Continued work with community stakeholders on drafting a unified approach to healthier and safer streets

• Staffing at the Tenderloin Linkage Center (TLC) transitioning to dedicated new hires and contracted community-based organizations

Highlights for operational period 16:

• Updated dashboards on Reducing homelessness and street sleeping published April 1
• 12th and Market prioritized to address community concerns; 23 people previously sleeping on the street there placed into shelter
• TLC leadership worked with the Civic Center Community Benefit District to develop a plan for improving the TLC’s external aesthetics, including installing fencing
• Listening sessions held at St. Anthony’s located at 826 Valencia, at the Tenderloin People’s Congress, and with residents and property managers from the 300 block of Hyde & 400 block of Eddy

Highlights for operational period 15:

• A new public-facing dashboard to show progress for the goal area of "reducing fatal and non-fatal overdoses" is now live
• Operational Period 15 showed a 41% decrease in street sleeping in the Tenderloin neighborhood since the beginning of the Tenderloin Emergency Initiative
• The list of priority locations was expanded for daily TEI cleanup and outreach activities

Highlights operational period 14:

• Additional police officers assigned to the Tenderloin to help reduce drug sales and violent crime
• Daily outreach, care, cleaning, and interventions took place at priority locations
• 10 overdoses reversed at the Tenderloin Linkage Center

• 76 people experiencing homelessness in the Tenderloin received shelter in hotels
• Daily outreach, care, cleaning and interventions took place at priority locations
• We continue to host community listening sessions

• 1,229 grams of drugs seized
• 125 locations power washed

• 189 people referred to the Linkage Center, connecting services and care
• Removed 199 tons of waste and power washed 117 locations for cleaner streets

Highlights for operational period 10:

• Daily outreach, service referrals, cleaning and infrastructure repairs near 400 Eddy, 600 Eddy, 300 Hyde, 300 Ellis, Boeddeker Park, and 7th and Market
• 1,195 grams of fentanyl taken off the street. 1,000 grams of this poison can kill up to 500,000 people
• 166 people referred to support services from the Linkage Center

• More housing resources with a new 116 bed shelter available for unhoused Tenderloin residents
• 1,322 grams of fentanyl taken off the street
• 223 people referred to medical, mental health and substance use treatment from the street

• 286 referrals to treatment programs from street outreach teams
• 11 overdoses reversed at the Linkage Center
• Up to 60 showers a day provided
