Vacant to Vibrant 

Participating entrepreneurs receive grants and technical assistance such as lease negotiations, permit support, insurance, and marketing. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Floodwater management

This program is run by SFPUC, for properties that experience flooding from the sewer system or adjacent public right-of-way caused by heavy rains.

Automatic dishwashing grant

Grants of up to $2,500 toward leasing or buying automatic dishwashers, to help food service businesses build reusable foodware infrastructure for on-site dining. Priority given to businesses that do not currently have a dishwasher and are ready to transition from disposable to reusable foodware for on-site dining.

Commercial Washer Rebate

This program from SFPUC provides a rebate of up to $1,000 for the purchase of eligible commercial grade clothes washers in laundromats.

Community and neighborhood improvement

Find funding for projects that improve neighborhoods. Grantees can be nonprofit organizations; businesses, community groups, and schools that do not have their nonprofit status may apply through a fiscal sponsor that is a nonprofit organization.

SF Shines Facade Improvement Grant - now closed

Businesses with eligible facade beautification projects can receive a grant of up to $20,000. While now closed, you can learn more about the SF Shines Facade Improvement grant.

SF Shines Interior Improvements Grant - now closed

Improve your business storefront or interior space with a SF Shines grant. Applications opened on February 28, 2025 and are now closed. Learn more about the SF Shines interior grant here.

SF Thrives Grant - now closed

Offering up to $10,000 in reimbursement grants for eligible operational expenses, the program supports small businesses in low- to moderate-income neighborhoods experiencing a slower post-pandemic rebound—helping them stabilize, reinvest, and thrive as part of San Francisco’s broader economic recovery.

Storefronts must have been operating on or before December 31, 2020 and had to close or limit operations during Shelter In Place (SIP) orders.

SF Shines Equipment Grant - now closed

The SF Shines Equipment Grant supports commercially-zoned storefronts all over the City with up to $10,000 in funding for equipment purchases. The goal is to support long-term success and help our City's commercial corridors thrive.

Eligible equipment must support your business operations and align with one of the following purposes:

  1. Start Up / Scale Up / Expand – To increase capacity, add new services, improve efficiency, or support growth
  2. Remediation – To fix broken equipment that is limiting your ability to operate
  3. Compliance – To resolve an open Notice of Violation (NOV) related to equipment in the interior of your storefront

SOG with broker services - now closed

Businesses in the Excelsior, Tenderloin, and Visitacion Valley can access comprehensive broker services, lease review services, and a $50,000 - $100,000 grant to open a new storefront. While now closed, you can learn more about the program.
