Heart Art
We left our hearts in San Francisco.
The Hearts in San Francisco project debuted in 2004 with 131 heart sculptures created to benefit programs at ZSFG. Today, new hearts are created, auctioned and sold every year to raise critical funds for public health in San Francisco. Hundreds of Hearts have raised millions of dollars to support on-the-ground innovation and compassionate care at ZSFG.

Make A Difference
Volunteer Opportunities at ZSFG
Volunteers are placed in non-clinical and clinical settings – offering opportunities to explore many facets of the hospital. Our most popular positions are in the Emergency Department, Urgent Care Center, Operating Room, and Radiology.
Clinical Volunteer
Clinical volunteers must have a prearranged agreement with a ZSFG provider and not be enrolled in an academic program.
Research Volunteer
Research volunteers must have a prearranged research placement.
Visiting Volunteer
Visitors can observe or shadow hospital employees.
