Each year, the City reviews and report on the the City's financial activities from the previous year in our Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
We use the report as a starting point for the next year's budget planning. It also helps inform policy choices facing the Mayor and Board of Supervisors.
The report offers public and transparent information on:
- Changes in the City’s economic growth
- Growth of revenues and spending
- How we prepare for economic challenges like recessions

Creating the report
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) requires collaboration from 55 departments. To create the report, each department must complete all of their financial transactions for the year. They must also review financial reporting requirements including:
- Debt
- Fixed assets
- Cash
- Other major financial highlights from their operations
The ACFR team then reviews these financial statements for completeness and accuracy, making sure that our report is free of errors.
