1. Fill out a form
Report a problem if the tree:
- Is blocking a street, sidewalk or bike lane
- Is blocking traffic signs or signals
- Has broken hanging limbs that are damaging property
We will need:
- The location
- Nature of request
2. Track your case
After you report, you will get a tracking number from 311. You can use this number, and your email address if provided, to track your case online or on the SF311 mobile app.
Expected response time
Inspection times listed in calendar days
- Damaged tree: 1 to 30 days
- Tree is damaging property: 1 to 90 days
- Landscaping: 15 to 90 days
- Overgrown tree: 15 to 90 days
- Other tree issues: varies

Routine tree maintenance
Issues that are not an immediate safety concern will be deferred until StreetTreeSF cycles through your neighborhood. Examples include:
- Requests for routine pruning of overgrown trees
- Other tree maintenance
StreetTreeSF is the street tree maintenance program managed by San Francisco Public Works. All street trees are pruned on a 3 to 5 year cycle.
