    As authorized by California Government Code Section 54953(e) and the Mayor’s 45th Supplement to her February 25, 2020 emergency proclamation, this meeting will be held remotely without providing a physical location.       The San Francisco Arts Commission acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the indigenous stewards of this land and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the ancestors, elders and relatives of the Ramaytush Community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples. As a department dedicated to promoting a diverse and equitable Arts and Culture environment in San Francisco, we are committed to supporting the traditional and contemporary evolution of the American Indian community.

      1. Motion to authorize the future removal of an original artwork by HYBYCOZO titled Aurum (which will be installed in Mint Plaza) under Section 5.8 (Revocability) of the Major Encroachment Permit between the Arts Commission and Public Works in the event that: 1) such removal is required for public right-of-way needs or use or public health or safety reasons as reasonably determined by the Director of Public Works, 2) a Major Encroachment Permit applicable to the site of the artwork is revoked, or 3) the site of the artwork is approved for conversion to a roadway.

         
      2. Motion to retroactively approve as installed, Unfolding Space (in Gold), 2020, a wall sculpture composed of 400 pieces of rectangular architectural bronze tubing measuring 132 in. by 540 in., by Andrew Vogt at San Francisco International Airport, Harvey Milk Terminal 1, Boarding Area B.

      Presentation of the completed artwork by Michael Bartalos for Fire Station 49 (Ambulance Deployment Facility).



      Discussion and Possible Action: to approve as installed the completed artwork titled Serving the City, 2023, by Michael Bartalos for Fire Station 49 (Ambulance Deployment Facility) at 2241 Jerrold Avenue. The artwork, installed at the station’s Jerrold Avenue entrance and McKinnon Avenue exit, consists of twenty-one cut and painted steel panels. The overall artwork dimensions are 10 ft. high by approximately 114-½ ft. wide.

    5. San Francisco International Airport: International Terminal

      Discussion and possible motion: to approve as installed the completed artwork titled MMXX, 2021, by Alicia McCarthy for the San Francisco International Airport, International Terminal, Boarding Area A. The artwork consists of six painted and sandblasted glass panels with overall dimensions totaling 7 ft. 6 in. high by 24 ft. wide.

    1. Agenda items will normally be heard in order. Please note, that on occasion a special circumstance may necessitate that an agenda item be taken out of order. To ensure that an agenda item is not missed, it is advised to arrive at the beginning of the meeting. All agenda changes will be announced by the Chair at the top of the meeting. 

    2. Public comment will be taken before or during the Committee’s consideration of each agenda item. Each speaker will be allowed to speak for the time allotted by the Chair at the top of the meeting or up to three (3) minutes.  

    3. During General Public Comment, members of the public may address the Commissioners on matters that are within the Arts Commission’s jurisdiction and are not on the agenda.

Minutes may be translated after they have been adopted by the Commission.
