Scoring overview for GFTA applications

Learn about how we score applications for GFTA's General Operating Support grants.

How we score

We review and score every application we receive. Each application may have a total score of up to 100 points.

An application must score at least 75 points to be eligible for a grant award.

Scoring criteria and weight

Scoring criteria changes each year based on updated City priorities.

In FY24, we scored applications based on the following City priorities:

Economic Impact (50 points / 50% of score)

We asked applicants to show how they planned to use arts and culture to drive economic recovery and activation in San Francisco.

Community Engagement and Impact (35 points / 35% of score)

We asked applicants to show how they planned to use arts and culture to:

  • Engage with communities to understand their needs
  • Create lasting change to improve San Francisco

Operational and Fiscal Accountability (15 points / 15% of score)

We asked applicants to show their ability to deliver on arts and culture programming or services in San Francisco. Applicants needed to show a track record of responsible operational and fiscal management.
