Documentation for GFTA applications

List of supplemental documentation needed to apply for a grant from Grants for the Arts.

All applicants

If you are applying as a fiscal sponsor, provide documents for the organization you are sponsoring.

General operating budget

Submit a board-approved general operating budget for the most recently completed fiscal year

If your organization’s fiscal year differs from the City’s, include beginning and end dates in your budget.

Note: We may ask you to provide budgets for 2 consecutive years so that we can match the City's fiscal period. We will be in touch if we would like to see a budget for another year.

Proof of San Francisco corporate address

Proof of address may be in the form of a:

  • Utility (water, gas, electricity) bill
  • Telephone or internet bill
  • Bank statement
  • Renter’s agreement with date
  • Mortgage documentation

This document should be no more than 3 months old and must include the applicant’s name.

First time applicants and fiscal sponsors

Recent activities

If you have never received GFTA funding, you must also submit a list of activities or events that your organization has planned or hosted for the last 3 consecutive years.

Activities should fall under the grant type you are applying for:

  • Arts Programming
  • Parades and Festivals
  • Capacity Building & Regranting

Fiscal sponsors

Agreement to sponsor

Fiscal sponsor organizations must also submit a letter that confirms that they agree to sponsor the organization applying for funding.

The Executive Director of the fiscal sponsor organization must sign the letter.

Formats accepted:

  • .pdf
  • .xls
  • .xlsx
  • .doc
  • .docx

Each attachment must be less than 20mb before uploading. Your application cannot be submitted if any file is larger than 20mb.
