Our work

Film SF is part of the Mayor’s Office of Economic & Workforce Development that inspires, attracts and supports creative productions in San Francisco. We provide hands on permitting to a wide variety of projects, ranging from student films and still photography to feature films and television series. It is our mission to ensure that each and every production has a successful shoot in our cinematic city.

Film SF supports every production, regardless of budget size. We offer reduced permit fees to qualified low budget productions. We also proudly offer our Scene in San Francisco rebate program to films, television shows, web series and documentaries that shoot in our City. Film SF has also partnered with businesses for our Vendor Discount Program, which provides production clients with discounted airfare, hotel rooms, equipment rentals, food and more.

Our partners

Film SF partners with local government agencies and legislators, creative organizations, local unions, the hospitality industry, media outlets and the film community. Film SF connects your production to the best contacts for your needs. Want to shoot on a cable car? Want to film on the Golden Gate Bridge? We are your first source for any inquiries and will partner with your production to secure filming permissions within our City.

Our neighborhoods

Film SF successfully facilitates productions within the 120+ micro neighborhoods of San Francisco. We maintain ongoing community relations with neighborhood associations, residents and business owners. Film SF strives to ensure a balance between the interests of the production and the neighborhoods affected by on-location activities.

Our office

Film SF staff work one-on-one with every single production that wants to shoot in San Francisco. Filmmaking is our passion and we are proud to support creative productions in film and media industries in our city.
