    Overview

    This is the regular in-person monthly public meeting of the Sheriff's Department Oversight Board. Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting in person to give public comment.

    2. Resolution Under California Government Code Section 5493 (e) (Action)

      Resolution setting forth findings required under Assembly Bill 361 that would allow the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board and any subcommittees to hold meetings remotely as specified.

    3. Adoption of Minutes (Action)

      Review and approve the Minutes from the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board Inaugural Meeting held on August 22, 2022.

    4. Recruitment of Inspector General (Discussion and Possible Action)

      Presentation by the Department of Human Resources (DHR) on recruitment and selection of an Inspector General, including the use of DHR resources and/or outside recruitment firms. Possible designation of a member or subcommittee to work with DHR on recruitment, including selection and retention of any outside recruitment agencies.  

    5. Budget Report (Informational)

      Presentation by the Mayor's Budget Office (MBO) on the SDOB budget. 

    6. Sheriff's Chief Report (Informational)
    7. Nomination and Election of Officers (Discussion and Possible Action)

      Further discussion and possible election of Officers to preside over the Board.

    8. Rules of Order/By-Laws (Discussion)

      Review and discussion of Rules of Order/By-Laws to be adopted at a later meeting.

    9. Future Agenda Items and Scheduling Regular Meeting (Discussion and Possible Action)
    10. General Public Comment

      The public is now welcome to address the Board regarding items that did not appear on tonight’s agenda but that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Board.  Speakers shall address their remarks to the Board as a whole and not to individual Board Members or Department or SDO personnel.

    Know Your Rights Under the Sunshine Act

    Government's duty is to serve the public, reaching its decisions in full view of the public. Commissions, boards, councils, and other agencies of the City and County exist to conduct the people's business. This ordinance assures that deliberations are conducted before the people and that City operations are open to the people's review.     Per the Language Access Ordinance (Chapter 91 of the San Francisco Administrative Code), Chinese, Spanish, and or Filipino (Tagalog) interpreters will be available upon request. Meeting Minutes may be translated if requested after they have been adopted by the Commission. Assistance in additional languages may be honored whenever possible. To request assistance with these services please contact the Office of Inspector General at (v) 415.241.7711 at least 48 hours in advance of the hearing. Late requests will be honored if possible.

    Sheriff's Department Oversight Board hearings are held in Room 416 at City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place in San Francisco. City Hall is accessible to persons using wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. Ramps are available at the Grove, Van Ness and McAllister entrances. The closest accessible BART station is Civic Center Station. For information about SFMTA service, please call 311.
    Assistive listening devices, real-time captioning, American Sign Language interpreters, readers, large print agendas, or other accommodations are available upon request. Please make your requests for accommodations to the Police Commission at (v) 415.837.7070. Requesting accommodations at least 72 hours prior to the meeting will help to ensure availability.
