SAN FRANCISCO, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 – This week, the Department of Elections will begin mailing ballots for the November 5 election to San Francisco voters serving in the military or living abroad.
Nearly 11,000 military and overseas voters will receive their ballot packets via email, fax, or postal mail, depending on their preferred delivery method. Each ballot packet will include detailed voting instructions, including information on ballot return options, deadlines, and how to track the status of the returned ballot.
"We are dedicated to making the voting process as seamless as possible for military personnel and overseas residents,” said Director John Arntz. “We recognize the unique circumstances of these voters and are here to support them every step of the way. With multiple delivery options, clear instructions for returning ballots, and assistance available via email and phone, we ensure that these voters can easily cast their ballots for the November 5 election.”
To qualify as a military or overseas voter in California, an individual must be:
- An active duty member of the uniformed services or merchant marine
- A spouse or dependent of an active duty member of the uniformed services or merchant marine
- A United States citizen living outside the country
