Get a referral

A referral form is required to receive testing and evaluation services at the TB Clinic.

If you do not have a referral and need a TB test, please see your primary care provider or go to another TB testing site. We do not perform school or employment screening.

Find out if you should ask your provider for a referral to us

Testing for shelter or program clearance

Only people who need shelter or program clearance are eligible for TB testing with us. If you need clearance from us, you must bring a referral from the agency that is requiring you to get testing.

Getting a chest x-ray or evaluation

If you need a chest x-ray or think you are experiencing TB-related symptoms, please see your primary care provider or seek urgent care. If you need more evaluation by us, your provider will make a referral.

Fees

The TB Clinic accepts and bills the following insurance plans: Medi-Cal, Medicare, SF Health Plan, Healthy Kids, Healthy Families, Blue Cross, and private/commercial insurance. For questions about billing and insurance coverage, please contact us at (628) 206-8524.

TB testing for SFUSD bus drivers and Head Start volunteers

Only SFUSD bus drivers with proper referral or SFUSD Head Start volunteers with Head Start paperwork will be accepted for TB testing. All other SFUSD employees should seek testing at an alternative testing site or from their primary care provider.

The San Francisco Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Program of the San Francisco Department of Public Health operates a centralized TB clinic that specializes in the education, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of active disease and latent TB infection.
