Dear Customers,
On January 1, the Department of Building Inspection transitioned to 100% Electronic Plan Review (EPR) for In-House Projects. This transition included the implementation of a new online form for submitting In-House applications, plans and supporting documents.
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve customer service and modernize operations, we are making some key improvements to the online form starting March 1, 2024, based on your feedback and the In-House applications processed to date.
Our goal is to improve your experience when submitting an In-House application, while also reducing rejections due to incomplete applications.
Changes to the online form include:
- Additional help text and questions for the different permit types.
- Improved upload page design and new upload fields for required supporting documentation.
- New comments field to tell us anything else you'd like to share about your project.
The following webpages provide more comprehensive guidance for submitting In-House permit applications:
- A new In-House Review Step-by-Step guide that walks you through the entire In-House permit application process.
- A new In-House Review Forms and Applications Portal with links to all required In-House permit forms and resources for submitting an application.
- Additional resource pages detailing the Electronic Plan Review (EPR) process in Bluebeam, plan set requirements for Full Permits, and addenda requirements for Site Permits, and processes for converting an existing paper In-House review application to a digital format and converting your Over-the-Counter building permit to In-House Review.
We believe these improvements will provide more transparency and guidance, save you time, reduce your costs, and produce a better overall experience.
A big thank you to our partners and colleagues in the Permit Center, Digital Services, City Planning, Public Works, the SF Public Utilities Commission, SF Fire, Public Health, and the Office of Community Infrastructure and Investment for their continued support and collaboration.
