Background

The Food Security Task Force's 2022 and 2023 Recommendations called for a centralized food policy office in City government to adequately address the food needs of San Francisco residents. As a result, the Reimagining Food Coordination Subcommittee was formed in September 2023 to develop detailed recommendations for a new food organizing structure that will be presented to the Board of Supervisors, Mayor, and Department Heads.

The subcommittee hosts monthly meetings and also provides regular updates at each monthly Food Security Task Force meeting. Final recommendations are to be voted on by Food Security Task Force members, and are expected to be presented to City leaders in Spring/Summer 2024.
