San Francisco, CA - Today, Mayor London N. Breed recognized MEBO International as a major sponsor in support of San Francisco as the host City for the 2023 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting in November. In May this year, MEBO, a Los Angeles-based company, donated $1 million to the San Francisco Special Events Committee which is responsible for all the APEC-related fundraising efforts, which now total $11.5 million.
This early support marks another significant contribution to pave the way for APEC’s success and demonstrates MEBO’s commitment to making a positive impact as a global business leader. This sponsorship will cement San Francisco’s status as a global City, furthering its strong and deep ties to the Asia Pacific Rim region in international sector business development, cultural exchanges, and issues impacting communities in both regions.
"MEBO's generosity attests to San Francisco's critical role as the United States’ gateway to the Asia Pacific region," said Mayor London Breed. "As APEC's Host City, we deeply value this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen the many international relationships we have built through our communities and companies that choose to call San Francisco home. As we continue to prepare for this international conference, I look forward to joining MEBO in welcoming thousands of attendees who will have nothing but praises for our City."
“I see nothing but opportunities for San Francisco and its communities,” said Kevin Xu, CEO of MEMO. “As Co-chair, I want to fully utilize the APEC platform. Through APEC’s mission and work, I care deeply about social responsibility and international relations. APEC in San Francisco is a rare opportunity to connect the Asia Pacific Rim region with different parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, the United States and the entire world. If we can all collaborate, we can make a big difference utilizing San Francisco as a launchpad that we know.”
