Mpox vaccinations by demographics

Learn about the age, race, ethnicity, sex, and sexual orientation of vaccinated San Francisco residents. 

Due to low case numbers, this page will no longer include vaccinations after 12/31/2022.

As of December 2022, over 50,000 doses (first or second doses) of the mpox JYNNEOS vaccine have been administered in San Francisco to both San Francisco residents and non-residents since May 1, 2022.

Vaccinations by age group

The chart below shows the percent of San Francisco residents who have received the JYNNEOS vaccine by age group. These data include JYNNEOS vaccines administered by any provider in California.

Data come from the California Immunization Registry (CAIR2). The California Department of Public Health runs CAIR2. CAIR2 data are based on patient self-report.  

San Francisco residents who have received at least one dose from a California provider reporting to CAIR2 are in these data. All doses administered to people living in San Francisco are included in these data. This includes doses administered to San Francisco residents vaccinated outside of San Francisco. Doses administered in San Francisco to non-San Francisco residents are not included.

Data come from Epic, the electronic health record system used by the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). The California Immunization Registry (CAIR2) does not include information on sexual orientation. The populations in our Epic data and the CAIR2 data are different. The Epic data in this chart only include vaccinations given at SFDPH sites to SF residents.
