Good news! San Francisco Public Works has established design review standards to reduce building permit application processing times for qualified projects. The new, tier-based system will assign minimum requirements to projects based on the scope of work.

We also wanted to remind you that many over-the-counter (OTC) trade permits can be issued instantly online without having to come to the Permit Center. California licensed B and B2 contractors who have registered with DBI can go online to self-certify that a project is code compliant and immediately obtain an OTC trade permit through our website. Trade permits that can be obtained online include electrical, plumbing and mechanical, reroofing, boiler operations, and kitchen and bath remodels.
Already this year, we’ve issued more than 800 OTC trade permits instantly online and encourage you to try it for your next project.
