Mayor London N. Breed issued the following statement on the rejection of the reappointment of Debra Walker to the San Francisco Police Commission by the Board of Supervisors’ Rules Committee:
The plan is a component to the Mayor’s broader Budget that prioritizes continued investment in revitalization efforts to reimagine San Francisco’s premier retail and hospitality district
Senate Bill 925 would create a targeted system from law enforcement to address rampant fencing on City streets, which has brought up serious public safety challenges and hurt local businesses
Budget closes major deficit while building on recent progress with critical investments in core government operations, public safety, homelessness, children and families, and economic revitalization
In partnership with Supervisor Melgar, the proposed initiatives will build on the City’s groundbreaking early education and child care initiatives by expanding eligibility to moderate income families and piloting extended-hour care to make quality child care and education more accessible and affordable
